As a member of Students Organizing for Sustainability (SOS), Eli successfully started a project where he applied for and won a grant from the Atlanta Local Food Initiative that allowed for a 12-tree orchard to be planted at the Georgia Tech Community Garden. He now serves as the community garden director and recently led the expansion project, which has tripled the size of the garden and allows other student organizations to lease garden beds.

The most important part of the Community Garden doesn’t lie in growing plants. Rather, it is the people who grow and surround them. My primary focus is cultivating a community - the garden is just a medium.
