Jalana Smith from Montrose, Georgia is a Literature, Media, and Communication student. Jalana has been involved in Suit Up Professional Preparation where she learned that leadership begins with ensuring everyone has a voice and a space where they feel heard. She has sought to create a more welcoming, inclusive environment where first-year students could grow professionally, while also feeling a strong sense of belonging within the Georgia Tech community. Jalana is also part of the Student Alumni Association, The Women’s Network, HexLabs, John H. Martison Honors Program Leadership Council, the John Lewis Student Leadership Pathways, and the Residence Hall Association.
