Jyotleen has been deeply involved in student leadership at Georgia Tech, particularly through her roles with the Sikh Students of Atlanta (SSA), the Student Neuroscience Association, and EMS at Tech. She served as president of SSA, where she helped build a strong community for Sikh and non-Sikh students alike, providing opportunities for spiritual engagement, service, and social connection. Through her leadership in SSA, Jyotleen worked to create an inclusive space for students, particularly those new to Atlanta, to connect with each other and practice seva, a core principle of selfless service. As co-president of the Student Neuroscience Association and field director for EMS at Tech, she continued to champion education, collaboration, and community building.
One of Jyotleen's most memorable leadership moments at Georgia Tech was organizing her first campus langar seva as president of SSA. Despite challenges, such as an unexpected rainstorm that forced the event to be relocated, Jyotleen and her team managed to serve over 300 people and distribute leftover food to the homeless in downtown Atlanta. This experience highlighted her ability to adapt, think quickly, and work together with others to ensure the success of the event. It also reinforced her commitment to service and the importance of building connections within the Georgia Tech community and beyond.
Through her leadership roles, Jyotleen has embodied Georgia Tech’s motto of Progress and Service by creating lasting and meaningful opportunities for service and connection. She views leadership as an opportunity to empower others, ensuring that those she leads feel heard, supported, and inspired to continue the work long after her time. Whether through SSA, the Student Neuroscience Association, or EMS at Tech, Jyotleen's focus on collaboration, empathy, and sustainability has left a lasting impact on the Georgia Tech community.
