Kathy has made a profound impact on the Georgia Tech community through her leadership in the Chinese Student Association (CSA). Beginning as a member of the events committee in her freshman year, she quickly grew into the role of events director, where she increased student engagement by introducing innovative events that revitalized the organization's presence on campus. As president, Kathy has spearheaded initiatives that ensure CSA’s sustainability and growth, such as securing more than $15,000 in funding for Starry Night event, an event capturing the vibrant energy of a traditional Chinese night market through variety food offerings, interactive games, and live performances. Her leadership has also expanded CSA’s network of sponsors and partners in the Atlanta community, creating a lasting impact for the organization.

One of Kathy’s most memorable leadership moments occurred when she had the opportunity to present as president at the CSA’s first general body meeting. Standing before a room filled with students passionate about celebrating Chinese culture, Kathy was reminded of the significant impact her leadership can have on others. This moment fueled her drive to make CSA's events even more impactful, including executing a large-scale campus-wide event and reintroducing the Lantern Fest semi-formal celebration. It also ignited her passion for inspiring younger members of the organization, reinforcing her role as a mentor and role model.

Kathy exemplifies Georgia Tech’s motto of Progress and Service through her dedication to both the Chinese Student Association and the broader Georgia Tech community. By innovating traditional events and establishing new campus-wide traditions, Kathy has shown progress in her commitment to promoting Georgia Tech’s values. Her commitment to serving others is evident not only in her leadership of CSA but also in her role with the Society of Women Engineers and her mentorship of fellow students. Kathy’s work continues to positively influence Georgia Tech’s diverse student body, leaving a lasting impact through her service and dedication.
