Thomas’s leadership journey at Georgia Tech has been defined by a commitment to cultivating inclusivity and empowering future leaders. As the president of International Ambassadors at Georgia Tech (GTIA), Thomas has worked to create a more inclusive community for all Georgia Tech students. His leadership has driven the growth and impact of GTIA, organizing major events like the Night Market, which attracted over 9,000 attendees, and collaborating with the Office of International Education (OIE) to support international students’ transitions. Through initiatives like GTIA’s international student email campaign and International Education Week, Thomas hopes that students from all backgrounds feel welcomed and valued at Georgia Tech.
One of Thomas’s most impactful leadership moments occurred during a ‘Ta-da’ Circle with SEED, a first-year leadership organization (FLO). Faced with a room full of nervous energy, Thomas stepped forward to share his personal family struggles, creating a vulnerable and open atmosphere. His willingness to lead by example inspired others to share their stories, building a deeper sense of trust and connection among the group. This moment taught Thomas the power of emotional awareness and the importance of creating safe spaces where others feel supported.
Thomas’s dedication to Georgia Tech’s motto of Progress and Service extends beyond GTIA and SEED. As a participant in Create-X’s Idea 2 Prototype program, he has led a startup focused on synthesizing game reviews using large language models, securing funding from the Microsoft Founders Hub. His leadership also extends to the International Advisory Board, where he collaborates to address challenges facing international students, and Flash Mob at Georgia Tech, where he teaches choreography to create joyful and spontaneous community moments. Thomas’s legacy is rooted in his ability to bring happiness and innovation to campus while building a community where students from all backgrounds can thrive.
